I aim to capture the unique particularities of everyday life and show them in a new light to provoke thought and reflection.
Artist Statement
In my artistic practice, I use drawing, collage, painting and mixed media to explore the social aspects of everyday life.
Through two-dimensional works visually defined by raw and linear forms and tactile texture of the surface, I focus on intangible themes such as communication, perception and thought to examine the characteristics of the individual and society. In my work I combine traditional art materials like charcoal, paint and China ink with unconventional materials such as thread, nylon and receipts. My process often involves creating a drawing by printing physical textures of different materials onto the surface of the paper and building layered compositions.
The viewer is invited to come closer and observe the details of the surface. In participative pieces, viewers are encouraged to contribute their thoughts or play a part in the transformation of the work.
